Smithville announces fiber-ready Columbus location, high-speed reliable gigabit-level service on deck

COLUMBUS (Indiana) – Smithville Fiber, a national leader in fiber-based high-capacity broadband, has designated the proposed Walesboro Industrial Park area to be fiber-ready, according to Cullen McCarty, executive vice president. “Given our established business enterprise presence with large and small companies in Columbus, Smithville is ready to deploy commercial-grade fiber within a 90-day framework to the Walesboro area,” McCarty said. Smithville would conduct engineering workups to determine the technical scope and timeframe of a rapid deployment.
Known as offering “Indiana’s best business Internet,” Smithville already provides fiber-based high-speed connectivity and a variety of related services to healthcare, manufacturing and other organizations in the Columbus area. Smithville has pioneered symmetrical gigabit (1,000 megabits) connectivity through public-private partnerships in other areas and cities in Indiana.
“This designation should send a clear message to businesses and companies considering Columbus and the proposed Walesboro project as a possible relocation or expansion site,” said McCarty. “Smithville stands ready to make things happen.”
Smithville is presently in the process of deploying a new fiber ring network throughout Indiana, which will increase its commercial service capacity to more than 100 gigabits.
Nationally recognized as a top 100 broadband company for the past seven consecutive years, Smithville operates high-speed fiber broadband service to Indiana certified technology parks, hospitals, manufacturers, financial institutions, municipalities and large non-for-profit organizations and school systems.
